just for reference... iPhone OS _does_ multitask - all of the "native" applications can be run at the same time - it just does not allow third party apps to make use of this, yet...

john... everyone knows, it still doesn't have multitask then. By your logic, the only phones that can't 'multi task' would be ones that couldn't accept phone calls or SMS while browsing the web... And for that matter, the iPhone doesn't even load web pages in the background. It can't be called a 'multitask' phone in comparasion with what the others can do.

Just an FYI, if you choose to buy the unlocked Nexus for $529, then you don't need to pay the higher monthly fees. The monthly fees will save you $20/month. Over the life of the same 2 years (which if you bought the unsubsidized version would not be under a contract), it would only cost $2449 and $2209, for the unlimited and 1000 minute plans (with messaging and data).

The app comparison really makes the palm pre stand out as a poor value. Sprint, however, also has some great android phones such as the HTC Hero. With any mobile anytime, their plans are at least as good as t-mobile's these days, with better 3g coverage in my experience...

That chart says the iPhone 3GS is $599 without contract. Where can you buy this? I thought they only sold with contracts?

buy.com has never-locked phones, but they're $1000.
