While in LA this past weekend, driving from West LA to my parents place in LaCrescenta (near Pasadena) I popped in DMX's "And then there was X" Album from back in 1999. It was interesting, because the following lyrics came on while I was thinking through things during the drive:
One more road to cross
One more risk to take
Gotta live my life
like there's one more move to make
I'm at a crossroads, I am taking many risks, but among all, no matter what happens, I always remind myself to keep moving forward and constantly make sure I'm making moves...no matter how much we fail, we have to keep moving forward, no matter how many times we fall, we have to get back up and keep moving forward. Whenever I need inspiration, I check out this clip from the most recent Rocky Movie:
Remember to keep moving forward and if you fail, fail fast, fall hard, but get back up and push harder than before!
Tonight I was a bit disappointed in myself for missing out on an opportunity and rather than taking it negatively (even though I am beating myself up over it)...I rather looked at it as an opportunity to improve. I'm trying to teach myself that if something doesn't go the way I'd like it, not to get frustrated, but rather, to learn from it and to understand how to improve so that I can do better in the future:
Perfect needs improvement...
Improvement requires Criticism (constructive or not)...
Accept Criticism in stride...
Always look forward...
Learn from your mistakes...
I've had a few things on my mind today that I noticed that are bothering me:
Browser Address Bars:
1. I've really been enjoying chrome lately, but, there is one thing that I do constantly throughout the day that I am so much more efficient with Firefox on, the address bar. When I'm looking for posts, sites, etc. I always type a few words or the domain and a word and its there, but chrome is funky and doesn't:
Chrome:
Firefox:
Personally, I think that Firefox does a much better job at this and makes my life so much easier when I'm trying to look for things on the fly. Anything that saves me 5 min throughout the day is going to make me that much happier.
Glossy Screens:
When I first got my unibody macbook pro, I was actually a bit excited to get my first glossy screen in a while, but, sometimes its a real pain when I'm at a coffee shop with lights hanging, on a train with sun coming in, etc. Now, I'm wishing that I had a matte screen so that I wouldn't have to adjust to awkward positions so things aren't shining on the screen, like so:
Seesmic Desktop updates
While I've always been a huge fan of Seesmic Desktop, I am not a big fan of the newest version. I really think they have made a few upgrades with regards to the overall UI, but, the usability of the app i think has gone down, especially for those of us managing multiple accounts. Those are two things that I think I will get use to and probably like...but..the one thing that is really bugging me is the fact that I can't add any commentary to retweets. I am now having to copy/paste tweets and not just do it on the fly like I use to. I might have to try out tweetdeck again, and, even though I'll probably stick with seesmic, it's one thing that really does bother me.

One of my resolutions in 2010 is to always stay humble while constantly pushing for goals and taking it to the next level each and every day. I'll always remember when things were all about the struggle and just getting by...
One of my theme songs for 2010 is going to be: "Get By" by Talib Kweli...
Been thinking a lot about this lately and it is always on my mind. There should always be a feeling of necessity when you are a startup, an entrepreneur, or even, someone just trying to make a name for themselves in an industry. I always tell myself that, if you don't have a feeling of necessity and you're momentum is gone, it's either time to create some or pack your bags and start looking for new opportunities.
There is always an opportunity to create a sense of necessity and urgency in what you are doing to inspire yourself and others around you to do something great. After all, being hungry and feeling like you've got to make a dollar to survive daily builds necessity, which gives you an opportunity to build momentum, and when you have that, you feed on it.
Trying to use Posterous more...
I'm really liking the format of posterous, it came up at dinner w/ @theman & @cyantist made me try it out...less formal than blog post w/ more info than a tweet! :)
I'm not sure how it is suppose to be used, but i'll probably use it as a way to get out quick thoughts that are constrained by twitter or would be broken up into several tweets.
I bought Blueprint 3 by Jay-Z because everything lately for me has been about winning the game...so..these lyrics define life right now
Life's a game but it's not fair,
I break the rules so I don't care,
So I keep doin' my own thing,
Walkin' tall against the rain,
Victory's within the mile,
Almost there, don't give up now,
Only thing that's on my mind,
Is who's gonna run this town tonight
Always pushing, Always Hustling...No matter what people tell you...no matter how tough things get emotionally, physically and mentally...victory and goals are always within reach...make it happen!
